This policy explains how Malik Tara ("I", "me", "my") handles information when you visit maliktara.pages.dev, read my work, or subscribe to The Malik Tara Letter.
1. Who operates this website
This is Malik Tara's personal website. For questions about this policy or requests concerning information I manage, you can contact maliktara@substack.com.
2. Information involved in using the site
Newsletter signups. When you subscribe, you submit your email address using Substack's signup form. Substack manages subscription confirmation, authentication, delivery, and subscriber records, and makes subscriber information available to me as the publisher.
Website requests. Cloudflare provides hosting, site delivery, and security. Like other hosting services, Cloudflare may process technical information such as IP addresses, request URLs, timestamps, browser details, and security-related information.
Preferences. Your browser can store your light/dark theme selection locally on your device. This site does not use that preference to identify you.
Direct communication. If you email me, I may receive your email address and the information you choose to share.
3. How information is used
- To send newsletters and other content you request.
- To manage newsletter subscriptions and reply to messages.
- To operate, protect, and maintain the website.
- To understand engagement with published work through the services currently used.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. Services used
Cloudflare Pages hosts and helps secure this website. Read Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Substack provides the newsletter signup form, subscriber management, email verification, and email delivery. Its forms and pages may use their own cookies and other technologies. Read Substack's Privacy Policy.
The website does not currently include an intentionally installed advertising pixel or separate third-party website analytics script. If that changes, this policy should be updated.
5. Sharing and international processing
I do not sell or rent newsletter subscriber lists. Data may be processed by Cloudflare and Substack as needed to provide their services, or disclosed where legally required. These services may process information in jurisdictions other than your own.
6. Retention and unsubscribing
Newsletter subscriber records are managed through Substack and subject to its retention practices. You can unsubscribe using the link in newsletter emails. Other correspondence may be kept as long as reasonably needed to respond or meet applicable obligations.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain uses of your information. Contact maliktara@substack.com about information I control. Substack account settings and privacy procedures may also apply to information managed directly by Substack.
8. Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not designed to solicit personal information from children. Please contact me if you believe a child's information has been submitted and should be reviewed or removed.

Links to other websites and services are provided for convenience. Those sites have their own privacy practices and policies.
10. Updates
I may revise this policy to reflect changes to my website, newsletter, or legal requirements. The date at the top will show the latest revision.
